I connect the one with the operating system on it to SATA 1, the brnd new SATA drive to SATA 2, ad the IDE converted to SATA to SATA 3. I just installed a new SATA drive but couldn't figure out how to get Windows XP to recognize it and assign it a dive letter. both came from a dell computer.
