Not a solution, but a short term work around. In safe mode you can remove the Nvidia driver in Device Manager so you can boot back to normal mode again. They were the biggest problem when Vista was released and the less than Tech savvy blamed the OS. Try using chrome and see if the problem persists.
Had this issue this morning, and reinstalled drivers as a first solution. You'll have to press the buttons on the monitor to get access to the monitor settings. Saved changes, reboot, installed drivers again, reboot, and... Hope this helps!
