However I have checked the log several times myself straight after the focus problems happened and there were no events logged at that time. This is my suggestion to anyone else who is finding their computer is losing focus as they work. Sorry to admins but I didn't want another forums account but I really wanted to leave this comment for others to find this solution. The reboot on 21 Oct was a household power failure BTW. when i disabled the process it stopped loosing focus for no reaso. Instead of tracing the just exited program with SysInternal's ProcessManager, I did traced the program as follows: Open Task manager Take a screenshot of open processes Switch to Browser, Mail etc I uninstalled it and stopped losing focus immediately.

I looked in the Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application, which showed errors from NvStreamNetworkService.exe every few seconds. It will take focus from the active window for 5 seconds, then give it back for 5 seconds, rinse and repeat. The culprit was a program called Retrospect.exe which is used by / with my external LaCie Terabyte HD.
