Win Xp Long Download To Nothing

What's special about all this?  I'm watching CPU, disk, network, and DNS activity, and doing screen grabs. Update for Windows XP (KB970430).What happens when I try to install them? Now it will cost me money to have someone fix the problem while there was nothing wrong with my compueter before this update. Thank you for helping us maintain CNET's great community.
