not responding at shutdown?? i'll check it out now. I threw the drive out and never did pinpoint the exact issue, but it seemed as though there was a firmware update for the drive that mainly affected specific RAID controllers. Perhaps idle timeout, or a problem with the drive itself. I have this problem on my laptop constantly. i don't seem to have it in my start menu where you suggested, so im hoping all is well on that front.

I would open task manager and check the option to be "Always on top." Then when it happens again you should be able to see the program/process that is maxing out
