The FX series remains viable only because it really doesn't take all that much processing power to perform most tasks, which enables them to hold on to a market segment made permalinkembedsavegive gold[–]pabloe168 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago(8 children)Usually you get what you pay quite accurately on either brand. this content
AMD does not have a processor that can compete with the performance of an i7 or Xeon, the question is whether or not the extra price for that performance is worth My baby right now has an intel i5 3700k sandy bridge because people had recommended it to me - I never really looked at AMD alternatives when I built it because But there are weird ones that uses sockets like 1356 (E5 24xx series) and E7s. i'm still rocking my x58 sabertooth from 2010 and getting a xeon for cheap is a good upgrade to stay relevant for a few more years. http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1626252/amd-cheaper-intel.html

As for the performance gap, yeah Intel is beating the collective **** out of AMD with the i7s, but they are typically very expensive and even the i3 and i5s are Why Are Amd Processors So Much Cheaper Than Intel But I know that aside from power draw I get my moneys worth on either case. I didn't look on black friday, but throwing in a single sale doesn't change the price at any other time. You can't offer up a sweeping generalization like that.
permalinkembedsavegive gold[–]Basas 0 points1 point2 points 9 months ago(0 children)You are comparing i7 4820k cpu vs X4 880K. Amd Vs Intel Processors If you want pure performance go Intel but most people should be fine with cheaper AMD CPUs. So, even with its 8 cores, the 8350 actually has more cache per core than a modern i5. Intel tends to have a higher price for performance but their best processors are better than the best AMD counterparts.
