What Is The Amd Equivalent Of A 3.0ghz Pentium?

the point of all this is simple… this discussion is way to complex to simplify. lol indeed, while Intel seemed to focus on "getting out the larger numbers," AMD wisely chose to improve the design to squeeze out more performance from a lower "clock speed." Talk saying that any single one of these is the reason why a is better than b is foolish. Intel winswith photo editing etc. That's why AMD decided to use this nomenclature, because the clock speed is no longer the most important thing.

i'd post them, but i don't want my name public. these same rules apply to any chip company, not just intel. Just for clarity's sake, that math isn't really how it works. if you fill the buckets, move the buckets, and empty the buckets, you've moved 12 gallons of water in one trip. AMD offers great price to performance ratios wheras Intel goes for high end and speed processing - generally at much greater financial costs. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.287518-Is-a-2-6Ghz-dual-core-processor-equivalent-to-a-3-0Ghz-single-core-processor W ??.?? is Looking to Bring Back The Matrix - UpdatedZero Punctuation: Horizon Zero DawnBeauty and the Beast - Time to Crush a RoseAppropriating CultureMonday, March 13 is Maintenance Day at The Escapist! why is it every noob generation seems to "discover" this? It has a Asus nForce2 board, AMD 2500+, and a GeForce4 ti 4800. Check out canirunit.com You select a game you want to run, it analyses your system and tells you if you can run it. That being said, HL2 ran smooth as silk for me on a single core P4 @ 2.2Ghz and an Nvidia FX5900 GPU.

this completely ignores the advantages that opteron has in terms of memory access…. - by cacheman cacheman (4:10pm est thu dec 15 2005)

mpg is about the same maybe slightly higer like 25-32 mpg. The processor used a dual-cavity package, in which one cavity contained the die and the other cavity contained the L2 Cache, as the Pentium Pro's L2 cache probably could not fit Since the large computer manufacturers can do nothing but follow public opinion, you are now seeing Dell and Gateway with a full line of AMD systems. i like to use an analogy of the matrix when describing this to people who are hung up on mhz.

I can play it with a 2.00 GHZ Dual Core, 1GB of Ram on Vista and no graphics card. ...wait what? i appreciate this as i spend hours and hours trying to present complex technology in a puppet show format for high level executives in the business. amd on the other hand is now using a newer overall architecture than the p4 which has a much better cache system, a smaller overall die size and a wonderful bus taking the pipe depth of the opteron and comparing it with the pentium/xeon family and drawing a performance and clock conclusion from that is misleading also.
